The Casebook
Hi, I’m Ibraheem, an anesthetist and the creator of The Mac & Miller Anesthesia Casebook.
When I was a student, I loved anesthesia—but I also remember how overwhelming it could feel.
There was so much to prepare for before walking into the OR. Patient histories. Procedures. Medications. Airway plans. Labs. Anesthetic considerations. And then, once the case was underway, there was everything to remember, document, and learn from.
I often found myself wishing there were a simpler way to keep it all together. One place to prepare for my cases, document what happened, and learn from the experience.
There were plenty of resources to study from, but I wanted something different: a practical tool that could follow me through the entire clinical experience.
So I created it.
MY STORY
From Student to Provider to Preceptor
As a student, I learned that becoming a good anesthesia provider isn't just about knowing the right drug or understanding a procedure.
It's about learning how to prepare. Think. Anticipate. Communicate. And reflect.
It's about understanding what happens before the case starts, what happens when you're in the room, and what happens when you're handing your patient over to the PACU.
Those experiences shaped the way I approach anesthesia today and how I teach my students - and ultimately shaped the Casebook.
WHY I CREATED THE CASEBOOK
Because the entire
case matters.
The Mac & Miller Anesthesia Casebook was created to streamline the process of preparing for, documenting, and learning from your clinical cases.
It gives students one place to bring the pieces together— from reading up on your patient the night before, to preparing your anesthetic plan, documenting your case in the OR, and completing your PACU handoff.
Instead of having your preparation scattered across notes, scraps of paper, and different resources, the Casebook is designed to help you follow the experience from beginning to end.
And that's intentional.
Because I believe that when you understand the workflow of a case, you begin to understand anesthesia in a different way.
You don't just memorize what to do.
You begin to understand why.
