Who is the Anesthesia Casebook designed for?

The Anesthesia Casebook was created for anesthesia students and providers who want a simple, organized way to document their clinical experiences and learn from the cases they encounter. It’s especially useful for SRNAs, CAA students, anesthesia residents, and other anesthesia trainees, but practicing anesthesia providers can also use it to document interesting cases, keep personal notes, and reflect on their clinical experiences.

How many cases can I record?

Each Anesthesia Casebook has space for 80 clinical cases. Whether you’re working through your first clinical rotation or building your experience throughout training, the Casebook gives you one dedicated place to keep your cases organized and easy to revisit.

What can I record for each case?

Each case page is designed to help you capture the information that matters to you as an anesthesia trainee or provider. You can document details such as the procedure, anesthetic plan, medications, airway management, relevant clinical information, and important takeaways or things you learned from the case.

Does the Casebook include anesthesia reference material?

Yes. In addition to the case-recording pages, the Casebook includes practical anesthesia reference information that you can keep alongside your clinical notes. The reference material is intended to give you useful information at a glance, while the case pages give you a place to apply what you’re learning in the OR.

Is this just a notebook, or does it have a specific structure?

The Casebook is more than a blank notebook. It was intentionally structured around the way anesthesia students and providers move through clinical training, with dedicated areas for documenting cases and practical reference material you can use throughout your rotations. The idea is to give you structure without making documentation feel complicated.

Will the Casebook fit in my clinical bag?

Yes. The Casebook was designed with portability in mind. Its compact format makes it easy to carry between the OR, clinical sites, school, and home. It can fit into many of the bags commonly used by anesthesia students and providers, including fanny packs, side bags, scrub bags, backpacks, and tote bags. It can also fit comfortably alongside other notebooks, textbooks, and a scrapbook-sized organizer.

Is it small enough to take into the OR?

The Casebook is designed to be convenient to carry during clinical training without taking up unnecessary space. That said, every hospital and clinical site has its own policies regarding what can be brought into restricted areas. Always follow the policies of your institution or clinical site.

Is the Casebook useful for students who see multiple cases in a day?

Absolutely. Clinical days can move quickly, and it can be difficult to remember every detail of the cases you encounter. The Casebook gives you a structured place to capture your experiences so you can revisit them later. You can use it throughout your rotation to build a personal record of the cases you’ve encountered and the lessons you’ve taken away from them.

Can I use the Casebook for my official case logging requirements?

The Casebook is not intended to replace your program’s official case log or any required electronic documentation system. Think of it as a personal learning and organization tool that you can use alongside your program’s required case logging system.

Can I use it if I’m already a practicing anesthesia provider?

Yes. Although the Casebook was created with anesthesia training in mind, practicing providers may find it useful for documenting interesting cases, keeping personal clinical notes, reviewing cases they want to learn more about, or simply maintaining a record of memorable clinical experiences.

Is the Casebook only for one type of anesthesia provider?

No. The Casebook can be used by anesthesia students and providers across different training pathways and stages of practice, including SRNAs, CAA students, anesthesia residents, and practicing anesthesia providers. The structure is designed around the clinical experience of anesthesia rather than one specific educational program.

Can I use it throughout my entire clinical training?

Yes. With space for 80 cases, the Casebook can accompany you through your rotations and provide a consistent place to document the cases you encounter. How long one Casebook lasts will depend on how frequently you document your cases.

Can I write patient information in the Casebook?

Do not record protected health information (PHI), patient names, medical record numbers, dates of birth, or other identifying information in your Casebook. Use the Casebook for your own educational and organizational purposes while following your institution’s privacy policies and applicable regulations.

Can I write in it while I’m in the OR?

The Casebook can be used as part of your clinical workflow, but always follow the policies of your hospital, clinical site, and anesthesia department. Some facilities may restrict writing materials, personal belongings, or documentation in certain areas. Your institution’s policies should always take priority.

What makes the Anesthesia Casebook different from a regular notebook?

A regular notebook gives you blank pages. The Anesthesia Casebook was created specifically around anesthesia training and clinical practice. Instead of starting with a blank page every time, you have a structured place to document your cases along with practical reference material designed with anesthesia in mind. It was created to make it easier to document your experiences, stay organized, and get more value out of every case.

Is the Casebook useful for studying?

It can be. The Casebook is not intended to replace your textbooks, coursework, question banks, or other study resources. However, documenting your own clinical experiences can help you identify topics you want to review and connect what you’re learning academically to what you’re seeing in the OR.

Can I use the Casebook after I graduate?

Absolutely. Your learning doesn’t stop when training ends. Practicing providers can continue using the Casebook to document interesting cases, clinical pearls, new experiences, or topics they want to revisit.

Is the Casebook a good gift for an anesthesia student?

Yes. It can make a thoughtful gift for an SRNA, CAA student, anesthesia resident, or other anesthesia trainee—particularly someone beginning clinical rotations or looking for a better way to organize their clinical experiences.
